Here's a collection of demos and alternate versions/mixes for my record "Soft Connections", released in 2015 by Captured Tracks under Nic Hessler. I had previously been writing & recording songs since 2004 under the name CATWALK. Captured Tracks put out two 7" singles leading up to this album release, in 2010 and in 2011. "Soft Connections" was originally intended to be the CATWALK debut. Things changed a lot during this period. I recorded a lot of demos between 2009-2012, with the help of Arin Fazio in our tiny apartment, leading up to the release of a potential debut. Half were songs that ended up on the record, the other half were bedroom recording experiments just trying to figure out how to record and get sounds I was looking for. Even tried mixing the record myself, but the label wanted someone else to do it. Then I was sick for a couple of months with a rare variant of Guillian-Barre syndrome - Miller-Fisher Guillian Barre. This certainly put a damper on things, but I healed rather quickly. Anyways, here's a batch of moments from a strange time in my life. I hope you can savor the ones that resonate with you. Enjoy!
